What lurks within the glitz and glamour of pop culture.

a dramaturgical exploration of Molly Rosen's V.I.P.

Hi, I'm Dylan (they/them)! Your friendly neighborhood dramaturg and pop-culture fanatic.

My second degree is in Communication and Media, so if you have any questions along the way, want to gab about pop culture, or anything in between, know that I'm happy to field any messages left in the Contact Me tab within 24 hours. Once there, you can also access a few of my favorite sources/additional recommendations in full if you're hungry. This site is not optimized for mobile viewing.

Now, let's talk fame.

Whether it be caressing a hand onto the car window as "Bad Day" plays from your iPod touch, or a shower performance so powerful it'd grant you a golden ticket to Hollywood, we have all had that moment of, "oh, I'm a star." In fact, filmmaker John Waters (2004) believes that being famous is everyone's unspoken wish. "Most everybody secretly imagines themselves in show business and every day on their way to work, they're a little bit depressed because they're not... People are sad they're not famous in America."

We all want fame, but do you have what it takes to prove you deserve it? This website seeks to offer resources to better inform your answer.

Once you get a more comprehensive idea of what the construct of celebrity is, you're free to peruse the three aspects that define celebrity status: personal branding, fandom's cultural fabrication, and public life
